Secretaries' Notes

Club secretaries Paul Lyons and Julie Pooke welcome all members, new and existing, to the United Kingdom Dutch Rabbit Club. Help and advice on all aspects of breeding and showing Dutch rabbits will always be freely given by The Premier Club.

Area Dutch Club secretaries or officials may request a free homepage for their club if they do not have their own website already. Homepages will be fully editable by you and will be hosted by and linked to this website. Please contact the webmaster if you would like to be set up with a page.

If anyone would like further information regarding directions or booking accomodation please feel free to contact us.

Subscriptions run from 1st January to 31st December each year. Members wishing to renew their club membership should forward payment to the secretaries by the end of January of each new year. New members should also send their payment to the secretaries along with their full contact details including their name and address for inclusion in the year book. Current subscription charges are £6.00 (£5.00 OAPs). On receiving payment the secretaries will return a receipt and a year book. Please remember to inform the secretaries if you move house and/or change your telephone number at any time during your membership.

The secretaries and committee of the UKDRC particularly wish to encourage membership from juniors up to the age of 16 years old. You are the future of our great club and have an important part to play in this friendly and inclusive hobby of ours. Please feel free to contact the secretaries or any committee members for help and advice.

The UKDRC provides a high quality year book to all paid up members which will be distributed in May/June. Members are always encouraged to submit articles and advertisements for inclusion in the year book. Adverts are charged at the rate of £12.00 for a full page, £8.00 for a half page and £6.00 for a quarter page. If you wish to submit an article or advert please forward details and any required payment to the secretaries by 31st January.

Members may make their rabbits into club champions by collecting first prize cards awarded by our elected judges in straight classes at open shows. CCs and Best of Breeds will not be counted for championship claims. For a single championship claim five first cards won under a minimum of four different UKDRC judges must be collected. Only one win under 5 months is allowed and for a single championship claim only. For additional championship claims (double, trebel etc.) a further five first cards will be needed under a minimum of three different UKDRC judges.

When making a claim please check the information on your cards is correct, in particular that the rabbit's ring number is written correctly and ensure all cards have been awarded by UKDRC club judges. Then send the cards along with the following information to the secretaries:

your name

the rabbit's name

the rabbit's breeder (if not yourself)

the rabbit's colour (if this is not clear from the information provided on the first cards)

No cards may be counted from shows that have been held on the same day as one of our stock shows or up to three days prior to or after the event.

If you wish to have your championship certificate posted to you please also enclose a first class large letter stamp and details of the address you would like it sent to.

To promote the showing of Dutch rabbits throughout the country the UKDRC wish to make it known to all rabbit show secretaries that we will grant club support to any society who engages one of our elected club judges, schedules at least three classes of Dutch and pays guaranteed prize money of not less than £1.00 per class. We give automatic support to shows so secretaries need not apply for these diplomas providing the above conditions have been met. No support may be granted however, to shows that are to be held on the same day as one of our stock shows or up to three days prior to or after the event.

UKDRC club members may collect these diplomas throughout the year. The member (or members if in a stud partnership) who contacts the secretaries at the end of the year and has won the highest number of diplomas will be presented with a £30.00 cash prize.

To enter the Breeders Sweepstake Competition members must forward payment of £2.00 per colour to the secretaries prior to February 21st. All exhibits of the colour for which the £2.00 has been paid that have been entered into the Young Stock Show and have been carded in their straight class will then automatically be entered into this competition. Cash prizes are awarded in this competition dependant on the total number of exhibits entered into a class.
